Welcome to the La Poynor ISD Police Department, where safety is our priority and service is our mission. Our dedicated Chief of Police Officer, Officer Daniels, works tirelessly to ensure a secure and supportive learning environment for students, staff, and families. Through collaboration, respect, and proactive policing, we strive to foster a culture of safety and trust within our schools.

Our department is committed to maintaining a positive presence on campus, building relationships with students, and promoting a secure educational experience. Whether responding to emergencies, providing guidance, or engaging with the community, we are here to serve and protect.

Thank you for visiting our page. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out. Your safety is our responsibility, and we are honored to uphold it.

  • We communicate LaPoynor ISD official news via ParentSquare and Facebook (facebook.com/lapoynorisd.net). Information is also posted to our website.

  • The district has a written Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) that includes the four primary areas of prevention, mitigation, response and recovery as well as various different crisis scenarios used for staff training and emergency response planning.

Close relationships with the Police Department, Henderson County Sheriff's Department, Texas DPS, and various other agencies are maintained to ensure emergency response plans remain current and effective.

  • In addition to the required campus and facility safety audits conducted every three years, the district periodically has independent safety and security audits using outside subject matter experts.

  • LaPoynor ISD conducts different types of drills throughout the year. They include:

    • Secure Drill: 1 per school year
    • Lockdown Drill: 2 per school year (one per semester)
    • Evacuation Drill: 1 per school year
    • Shelter-in-Place for Hazmat Drill: 1 per school year
    • Shelter for Severe Weather Drill: 1 per school year
    • Fire Evacuation Drill: 4 per school year (2 per semester)
  • LaPoynor ISD will use its district website, social media, and ParentSquare to communicate with parents.

Emergency announcements will go out via the mass notification system.  An email, phone, and text message will be sent to parent/guardians. Parents and guardians are automatically set up to receive these notifications through our student data system. For this reason, it is important to notify your child’s school if your contact information changes during the year.

Standard Safety Protocol

Raptor Technologies

  • Raptor Visitor Management eliminates uncertainty and helps schools know precisely who is on campus. By scanning their ID, each visitor’s information is screened against the sex offender registry and custom databases, including those with custody orders and banned visitor status. The system instantly alerts school officials if a visitor is flagged as a security risk. Visitor management systems automatically capture and store visitor data, enabling schools to create security-focused reports for analytical and investigative purposes.

  • Raptor Emergency Management effectively manage drills, instantly notify first responders, accurately account for individuals and safely reunify families.

  • Upon entering a district building, visitors will be asked to present an ID such as a Driver’s License, which can either be scanned or manually entered into the system. If a parent or guardian for any reason does not have a US government-issued ID, the school staff member can use any form of identification and manually enter the person’s name into the Raptor system.

The Raptor system will check to ensure that registered sexual offenders are not entering our school campuses without our knowledge. The Raptor system checks the visitors name and date of birth for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders. The registered sex offender database is the only official database checked by the Raptor system. No other data from the ID is gathered or recorded and the information is not shared with any outside agency.

Once entry is approved, Raptor will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of his/her visit. A visitor’s badge will not be necessary for those who visit our schools simply to drop off an item in the office or pick up paperwork. The safety of our students is our highest priority and the Raptor visitor management system allows us to quickly identify those that may present a danger to our students. Thank you in advance for your understanding and your support in enhancing the school safety protocols in our district.
